Context Drift

Small errors, missing assumptions, and stale decisions become inputs to later work and compound.

Context drift is the gradual degradation of context quality as small errors, missing assumptions, or stale decisions become inputs to later work.

One team or agent passes a partial account forward. The next treats that account as ground truth and adds its own assumptions. Each handoff increases the distance from the original evidence and intent.

Attribution, explicit decisions, fresh context windows, and bounded context packages make drift visible before it compounds.
